Bananas About You

Never before have the bananas in our house had such a fruitful stay as this time. When they were freshly bought & smart-looking, they were consumed as bananas. Bananas to work, bananas after work. It was a happy  co-existence. For the banana family & ours.
And then the first tinge of black appeared on the peel. P & Bhai turned away from the fruit bowl as if from a pimpled girlfriend. They wouldn't so much as look at the fruit, forget picking one to eat it. It was as if the bananas did not exist
Soon, Happy Holi knocked on the door, everybody was wholly happy & the lady of the house got smart. She made puas with the bananas. Served them with mutton & dahi vada. The puas disappeared within minutes. The men were satiated, the bananas regained their lost dignity, not a word about them was breathed in the household.
You know how one looks for a lost love because you suddenly realize its value? Bhai wanted to know if there were bananas left, cz he wanted to make banana cake! Did we have maida? Did we have eggs, cinnamon, baking soda? We did? Great! Swati ne mujhe Banana Cake sikhaya hai. She says it's very simple. Banayein kya? Banana caka banana hai? Chalo banate hain. The lady smiles, the remaining bananas do a jig that Bhai misses & the family lives happily ever after.
